Ingredients:
1 12 oz Hayman's London Dry Gin
12 oz Luxardo Maraschino liqueur
16 oz Orange juice (freshly squeezed)
16 oz Lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill an Old-fashioned glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of skewered Luxardo Maraschino Cherry.
  3. SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  4. STRAIN into glass filled with crushed ice.
  5. Garnish with skewered cherry.

History:

A pre-prohibition cocktail from the Big Brass Rail bar at the original Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, USA. Adapted from a recipe first published in Albert Stevens Crockett's 1931 Old Waldorf Bar Days.

Solon recalls that this was so called in compliment to a yachtsman well known many years ago, but does not remember his name.

Thoroughly enjoyed this, rich maraschino flavor tempered by citrus and juniper. The grenadine variant seems promising. Gets a heart for now.
