Review:

It's the combination of name, tennis tournament and garnish which makes this otherwise very ordinary Vodka Collins sweetened with berry liqueur special.

History:

Adapted from a recipe created in 2016 by Nick Mautone, a highly experienced bartender then working as brand ambassador for Grey Goose Vodka, which had just become vodka sponsor of the United States Tennis Association's Open tennis tournament.

One evening, soon after being tasked with creating the event's official cocktail, he noticed that honeydew melon balls resembled tiny tennis balls, and with a suitable garnish found, his Grey Goose Vodka-based tall fruity cocktail soon followed. Served in collectable plastic cups, during the 2024 US Open, more than 500,000 Honey Deuce cocktails were sold, garnished with 1.5 million melon balls. That's a load of balls!

This original spec for this cocktail is a honeydew melon ball garnish as the light green melon more closely resembles the color of a tennis ball.

This one is refreshing, well balanced and the alcohol is not detectable, so beware! Goes down quickly and easily. Perfect summer night
