Prepare

Adapted from a recipe created in 2023 by Leonardo Todisco, the global brand ambassador for Strucchi vermouths and bitter.

Apocalypse Negroni, fresher and more incisive, celebrates the character of Rodolfo Valentino, famous protagonist of the film The Knights of the Apocalypse and today, not by chance, the protagonist image on the label of Bitter Strucchi. This recipe reinterprets a classic Negroni by proposing it in a sour key, then shaken and served straight, with that extra pinch of acidity that keeps the palate alive and fresh.

This is a very different cocktail compared to the original, and I like that. Riffs should be different. To me, though, this was more like Sangria. I don't really like wines, so it wasn't for me. The original was perfect, but I did use navy strength gin in it. At least Strucchi's Instagram reel calls only for dry gin. That makes we wonder how it differs from Negroni Sour. The only difference I can see is 5 ml in lemon juice. But maybe I would need to actual see the original recipe for Apocalypse Negroni.
