The Frank Morgan cocktail was first documented in Crosby Gaige's 1944 The Standard Cocktail Guide and is named after the actor Frank Morgan, best known as the Wizard in the original The Wizard of Oz. Frank Morgan was his stage name, and he was born in 1890 as Francis Phillip Wuppermann, one of 11 children of George Wupperman, a salesman for Angostura bitters who progressed to become the sole agent for the brand in the USA, Canada, Mexico and Cuba.
