How to make

Prepare

Select and pre-chill a NICK & NORA GLASS.
Prepare garnish of lemon zest twist.

Method

STIR all ingredients with ice.
FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

EXPRESS lemon zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

History

Adapted from a recipe by Brad Farran, Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. Brad's original recipe calls for Yamazaki 12 year old. He named his cocktail in reference to the third instalment of the Fast and the Furious movies, which he thinks, "is pretty hilarious."

This was quite a solid drink, but I felt my Japanese whiskey (Kaiyo 5 Wood) was overwhelmed by the other ingredients.I might need to try a different base that has a more pronounced character, to avoid losing the nuance and complexity of the whiskey.

An excellent autumn cocktail. We played with it by using Hibiki Harmony whiskey, reduced volume to 50ml and Chartreuse 7.5ml, instead of Strega. This cocktail has the Manhattan DNA, establishes delicate balance and adds herbal nuance. Definitely on our fall menu.
