Review:

This subtly mandarin orange-influenced Sweet Manhattan is made drier and all the more complex, not by dashes of bitters, but by a slug of Italian amaro.

I tried with Sicilian Orange Amaro instead Averna and Napoleon with 1,5 cl. of this. Racomanded

Honestly one of the best Manhattan riffs I've had. The Mandarine meets the cola notes in the Averna perfectly, whilst enhancing the pepper and spiciness in the rye. The Vermouth serves more like glue, holding everything together, rather than contributing a lot of flavours itself.

Loved the blend of flavors…used a new bottle of Vincenzi Vermouth Di Torino which was good ! ( Although not listed to add to my caninet! ☹️)

Thanks for the recommendation, Dave. I've added Vincenzi rosso and bianco vermouths.

One of the very best modifications of a Manhattan I've ever had. Love it!

This was delicious with Tempus Fugit Gran Classico and Antica Formula.

Made to spec (although I used Grand Marnier instead of Napoleon, as others do). Hmm. It’s okay I guess, not my
favourite, although I like all the ingredients on their own. Going to look for digestifs involving bourbon and Green Chatreuse.

Perhaps try a Haberdasher next...it's bourbon and Green Chartreuse deliciousness!

Variant that reestablishes the 2:1 ratio: 1oz each of rye & cognac, 1/2 oz each Mandarine Napoleon & Cocchi, splash of Averna. Garnish with the cherry and an orange peel.

It's not often you see a Manhattan with a ratio different from the usual 2:1, but I like how this one balances with the orange liqueur. A really awesome variant!

This works for the category. Something -- I'm not sure what -- raises notes of herbal freshness here. Maybe the combination of the orange and the Averna? I , too, subbed Grand Marnier because I didn't have the Mandarine. Would def make again.

I like this a lot for a boozy cocktail. i didn't have the Napoleon - so used Gran Marnier and it was still very nice.
