Review:

An Italian influenced riff on the classic Aviation with fragrant grappa in place of the usual gin base and floral crème de violette very slightly dialled up to match the aromatics of the grappa.

A very nice aviation variation. What it loses in Angelica and juniper it gains in vinous warmth and aromatics, including coffee cherry, stone fruit and cacao. More savoury than a regular aviation.

So from when is Joerg Meyer's Rosina Ferrario No 203, because you literally made his drink with 0.5cl less Violette, haha?

I hadn't realised the similarity in these recipes but I've now linked both (see "variation" above). I don't know when Joerg created his version but mine is number 4687 on our database (see URL at the top of page) while his is 8744, so I made and uploaded his much later.

Always a bit concerned with Creme de Violette cocktails as they can easily taste like drinking a flower stall. Since I have never been disappointed by any of Simon's cocktails, decided to try this one.
It was wonderful. The grappa and creme de violette work together perfectly. The drink is balanced without heavy floral notes. Excellent as an aperitif.
