Best described as an apricot-flavoured Irish whiskey Daiquiri.
Adapted from a recipe created by Aaron Wall at his Homeboy bar in Islington, London, England. Originally made with Teeling Small Batch Irish whiskey, the Wogan remains one of Homeboy's signature cocktails.
Named after Sir Terry Wogan (1938-2016), the popular BBC television and radio presenter who was considered "a national treasure", originally from Limerick, Ireland.
Aaron Wall says, "What were trying to showcase with this cocktail is that Irish whiskey can sit in an aspect of a grassier rum, this is a formula for an Irish whiskey cocktail:
- 40ml Irish
- 10ml of a liqueur that complements or contrasts a tasting note of the whiskey
- 15ml lime
- 15ml 1:1 sugar
- 3 dashes saline or a pinch of salt to draw flavours together.
That's why in the Wogan we use apricot liqueur to complement the rum finish cask flavour of the Teeling Small Batch."

Next time, will half the sugar syrup and increase slightly the lime. My issue may be our limes as they are grown locally and tree ripened so they do tend to be a bit sweeter.
Would definitely have again.
The result was really nice, like a Sidecar with Irish vibes.
