Adapted from Mark Prat's 2005 Almond Old Fashioned. Back then, Mark almost certainly didn't have access to añejo tequila, but if had he'd surely have used it rather than reposado.

This works so well it may become my default for a Tequila old fashioned, which has been a staple drink of mine for years now. Absolutely excellent.

The almond and agave complement each other very well. I was expecting to be underwhelmed by its simplicity and though it isn't particularly complex I am very happy with the heavy agave flavor. If tequila is your thing, you'll like this.

Thought it was too sweet, added a 1/2oz of lime to rescue it. Great success.

I feared that I’d regret making this and it would be a waste of añejo tequila, but I was intrigued enough to try it anyway. I’m glad I did, it’s great!

I used hazelnut liqueur as a substitute for Amaretto, and a homemade grapefruit bitter for the orange bitters. The result was very good.

Gorgeous. Take care though, while it’s boozy it’s very drinkable. Definitely one for my little book of favourites ?

Great cocktail. Nice flavour of the almond and a good punch from the tequila. For a few ingredients, it is very refreshing. Would be perfect at the pool or on a sunny afternoon.
