Glass:

Serve in a Martini glass

Ingredients:
2 fl oz Torabhaig Peated Single Malt Whisky
12 fl oz Strucchi Dry Vermouth
12 fl oz Elderflower liqueur
16 fl oz Cynar or other carciofo amaro
× 1 1 serving
Read about cocktail measures and measuring

Prepare:

  1. Select and pre-chill a MARTINI GLASS.
  2. Prepare garnish of grapefruit zest twist (flamed).

How to make:

  1. STIR all ingredients with ice.
  2. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish:

  1. EXPRESS flamed grapefruit zest twist over cocktail and use as garnish.

Tastes a lot better and more balanced than you'd expect with this amount of peated whisky.
In my experience the more expensive peated whiskies tends to not do so well in cocktails.
So for this, I used "For Peat's sake" which is heavy on the smoke, but fairly neutral otherwise 4,5.

I like a peated whisky but this didn’t quite work. I thought something was clashing with the whisky. I admit I did add a couple of drops of Absinthe (as Gabriel de Tuya’s suggestion) which did help 👍

Laphroiag | Dolin ... good and complex, tastes like the scotch you put in it i think and 'froyg has a lot of attitude

Not being a fan of overly smoky Whisky, decided to try this one for the Highland Games which occur every last weekend of May. This was wonderful Perfect for before dinner. Liked as per the recipe, but did also try Gabriel de Tuya's recommendation for a little Absinthe. Did about 5 sprays and it was a different cocktail, but also very good.

It doesn't seem like those flavors would complement a super-smoky Islay. And yet they do. I quite liked it, will make again.
