The 75ml of bourbon definitely show there, it masks the complexity for me. Otherwise a good recipe. Not sure I would ask for second helpings though.

Pretty brash and bold with what I had: Wild Turkey 101, Willett 4-year rye 112.4 proof, Cocchi di Torino, Luxardo Bitter Bianco (what I'm testing), Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao. I get the Manhattan reference, but there's too much fruity white grape and orange to warrant a direct comparison. Pretty strident booze and bitterness. Really quite striking with these brands. I unfortunately didn't have any rye on hand so just used 2.5oz of Bourbon. I will need to revisit this one as while I enjoyed it, I think maybe the rye is needed to better balance the overall drink. Having said that, very enjoyable, in part because I took a cue from the attached image to garnish with 3 cherries!

Not bad. I need to try it with some more top shelf ingredients (using middle shelf and some long-in-the-tooth bianco), but I almost winder if it would benefit from a splash of grenadine or chambord.

This is a really nice Manhattan-style cocktail. I've been kind of bored by the "Manhattan" style, for the most part, but this might be my favorite so far. It does a good job of being whiskey-forward without being too boozy, and complex enough to be interesting. There's a nice hint of orange from the GM.

Came across this cocktail by doing a random search through the pages of the book (flipping some pages randomly) don't know how I never came across this before, this is a new favourite of ours. A riff on the Dubliner.

Well balanced and the burst of flavours are unbelievable. The rye adds some peppery tastes and the vermouths different herbal notes. The Grand Marnier add a wonderful hint of orange. Would be perfect as an aperitif or after-dinner.
