From what I’m able to ascertain on a search, Amaro Averna is the ‘closest’ substitute for Lucano with the caveat that it does add more of a cola note. Others mentioned were Nonino and Montenegro but Averna was stated as the closest.

An absolutely delicious cocktail, homemade grenadine makes all the difference and I strongly recommend you make your own.

Thanks, Matthew. I'm glad you liked it. I often do make my own, but thought I'd put the Monin in for simplicity's sake.

This sounds like when I let my husband mix a cocktail unsupervised and he forgot the sugar syrup and I said “hmm it’s very limey” lol so had to mix some sugar syrup in the glass

Hahaha. Fun!

Made with "legit" Chartreuse and Genepy. BUT I forgot the lime. My wife and I tried it and thought it very good. As I read the ingredients to her, I realized I forgot the lime. Added the lime and also good. I think I could drink it with or without the lime. Fun.

Coconut cream liqueur = coconut liqueur with cream usually under 20% alc./vol.

Thank you very much for your responses. Now I know! Hallelujah! \
Made my Lovely Pair of Coconuts with Koloa over the lower ABV options I had and everybody loved it.

Hi, everyone, first off thanks for your responses and suggestions. Update: on my last trip to Total Wine, I saw Izarra Verte and Izarra Jaune available. They were highly recommended as substitutes for the Chartreuse's. I haven't cracked them yet, but we'll see!
