Serve in a Coupe glass

Ingredients:
34 oz Light white rum (charcoal-filtered 1-4 years old)
34 oz Hayman's London Dry Gin
12 oz Lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
13 oz Monin Grenadine Syrup
13 oz Chilled water omit if using wet ice
2 drop Saline solution 4:1 (20g sea salt to 80g water) optional
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a Coupe glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of lemon wedge &/or lemon zest twist.
  3. SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  4. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

In his book, Vic prefaces this cocktail with the comment, "Nice, easy drink". It's basically a lemon Daiquiri with gin and grenadine.

Adapted from a recipe in Victor Bergeron's 1972 Trader Vic's Bartender's Guide where this recipe is accompanied by the "TV" logo indicating that this recipe is a Trader Vic original.

Nice, easy drink
HUAPALA COCKTAIL
¾ ounce light Puerto Rican rum
¾ ounce gin
½ ounce lemon juice
1 dash grenadine
Shake with ice cubes. Strain into chilled cocktail glass.

Very good anytime cocktail. Since our grenadine is not overly sweet, the cocktail is nicely sour, which is perfect for me. Is a tiki style cocktail for those who do not like the overly sweet nature of many of the tikis.
