Didn't have hazelnut liqueur. So used walnut liqueur (Nocello) instead.
Floated a couple of raw walnuts on top.
Worked!

Whether you use hazelnut liqueur (which I'm still to try) or walnut liqueur, and echoing @Kenneth below, I'd say this is a subtle and sophisticated lowish-in-alcohol cocktail that will appeal to many, as it mellows out some of the "hard-core" sherry flavours that not everyone likes in sherry by itself.

This is a phenomenally balanced drink. I don't really like any of these ingredients but the combination of the 4 is exceptional. I was trying to use up some oloroso but now I might end up buying another bottle!

An interesting combination of flavours which gave rise to an interesting drink. Hazelnut liqueur can be overpowering but in this drink it was a nice counterpoint though I did use two dashes of bitters. Good.

One of us wanted the Frangelico dialed up, and the other dialed down. On the average we did settle for 15 ml. (25 ml in one and 5 ml in the other) I get the enhancing of the nutty Oloroso flavour with the Frangelico, just don't let it overpower the Sherry.

Used Lustau Oloroso. The Frangelico definitely gave this the nutty flavor and it's an overall nice drink.

We have taken the frangelico down a little bit, and then used a dry oloroso instead of the fino. It keeps the nuttiness, but makes it rounder and slightly less sharp. We used Knightor’s dry vermouth. Next time we’ll try with a palo cortado. I think this is a bit underrated.

Agreed, less liqueur and dry oloroso sherry are delicious. I've amended the recipe accordingly. I also tried with palo cortado but nutty notes were more pronounced and overall cocktail better with oloroso. Many thanks, Nick.

Agree is very nice, I’d like to try adding some creme de cacao next time.

It's really nice and nutty; almost needs a little something else to give it more dimension though...
