History

Review

Named after the German word for 'three of a kind' due to the trio of flavours encountered in this drink; orange (from the twist), agave and chocolate.

Like it but less sweet, I'm up for 10 ml agave sirup and 15 drops of mole bitters, i.e closer to one dash

Really enjoyed this and it went perfectly for a cocktail with a very, very spicy Mexican dinner. I did find it a bit sweet, but it does seem to soften when the ice melts. May benefit from an addition of a little cold water and a long shake.

Slightly tweaked: substituted agave syrup and increased the bitters to 10 drops. Was harder to appreciate them at just 5.
But once modified, I love this version of a tequila old fashioned. Really taste the agave followed by a pleasant bit of heat from the bitters. Highly recommend!

Thanks David and Geoff. I've followed your lead and switched to agave syrup and increased bitters as makes a better cocktail. Many thanks.

After enjoying the Almond Old Fashioned, then came across this one with mole bitters. I subbed 2:1 syrup with agave nectar and increased the mole bitters to 10 drops to experiment. This is a great way to enjoy tequila and the three of a kind do work together here.
