Ingredients:
1 12 oz Straight rye whiskey (100 proof /50% alc./vol.)
12 oz Bittersweet orange-red aperitivo
12 oz Cynar or other carciofo amaro
12 oz Mancino Vermouth di Torino Chinato
1 dash Orange Bitters by Angostura
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill an Old-fashioned glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.
  3. STIR all ingredients with ice.
  4. STRAIN into ice-filled glass (preferably over a large cube or chunk of block ice).
  5. EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

Review:

It might not taste of "Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens" but after this cocktail you won't feel so bad. It is a delicious aperitivo or digestivo.

This is a wonderfully balanced cocktail that's just the perfect amalgam of sweet, bitter, fruity, and herbal. Rich and round too, without being cloying or heavy. A new favourite!

This is a great cocktail!
Maybe my (new) favourite thing, lol. The components are all identifiable in the final product, but contribute to each other nicely.
First time I did not have chinato so used regular (Guerra) sweet vermouth, and may just prefer that version - bit more fruity, in a good way.
