Review:

As the name suggests, this is a blue-rinsed, orange-forward riff on a classic Negroni. If a six-ingredient Negroni seems over the top, try this simplified version:
30ml (1oz) Gin
30ml (1oz) Bianco vermouth
20ml (⅔oz) Bitter bianco
10ml (⅓oz) Blue curacao

I have a handful of traditional Negroni loving friends who are very sceptical about the concept of a Blue Negroni. I have dabbled with them trying to generate something that isn't sweet and my traditionalists then added in to the challenge that to be authentic any recipe should be of 'equal parts'. After some experimentation and a green version produced using Gin, Suze & Blue Coração, I came up with the following combination which seemed sufficiently Negroniesque in taste and was made using 15 mls of each of the following ingredients:
London Dry Gin
Vodka (Stoli)
Tequila (Don Angel - I'm not much of Tequila drinker)
Luxardo Bitters
Cocchi Americano
Blue Coração

Those who sampled it gave it the thumbs up, but I'm yet to win over all of the traditionalists who merely saw the photo!

qv unless you like them sweet, just use dry vermouth.

If you happen to have friends over for aperitivo, I suggest serving regular Negronis mixed with a few of these on the same tray. The bright red and light blue of the two look just stunning together and you'll be sure to make an impression.
I found the result a bit too sweet, I will try fully replacing bianco vermouth with extra dry next time.

Simplified version should be 30ml (1oz) instead of (10z), simple typo. I don’t have blue curaçao but I love blond Negroni riffs!
