Serve in a Coupe glass

Ingredients:
1 12 oz Rémy Martin V.S.O.P. cognac
23 oz Disaronno amaretto
23 oz Amaro (e.g. Averna)
16 oz Torabhaig Peated Single Malt Whisky
8 drop Bob's Vanilla bitters
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a Coupe glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of lemon zest twist.
  3. STIR all ingredients with ice.
  4. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.
  5. EXPRESS lemon zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

Variant:

Barrel aged serve: Multiply the recipe to produce a total volume at will two-thirds fill your cask. Combine ingredients and pour into the cask. Then (after at least two weeks of maturation) to serve drink: Dispense serve from cask, STIR with ice and strain into chilled glass.

The biscotti is there in the forefront but the peated whisky crushes that pretty handily in the aftertaste. The dark sweetness plus smoke gives a bit of a barbecue sauce vibe which was not what I was looking for when I picked this. Sad as a big fan of both smokiness and Averna together, Devil's Soul is one of my favorites.

Made the unaged version with Elijah Craig bourbon instead of cognac, so I guess moving into Godfather territory, but rather tasty nonetheless.

Many thanks for pointing this out. The How to Make didn't make it clear that this was a barrel-aged cocktail. I've amended and added an unaged version.
