Review:

Ginseng bitters add bright, fresh, aromatic, aphrodisiac notes while Parfait Amour liqueur literally means "perfect love". But does the alluring sunken garnish turn out to be a sweet consolatory treat?

History:

Vernalagnia (pronounced "vern-a-lag-nee-ah"), derived from "vernal" (relating to spring) and "agnia" (desire), is a wonderful term for the renewed sense of energy and heightened romantic attraction that emerges with spring's warmer, longer days.

Increased sunlight boosts serotonin and dopamine levels, improves mood and sociability. In nature, spring is a season of growth, fertility, and renewal- human behaviour follows a similar rhythm.

In cocktail culture, this seasonal shift aligns neatly with lighter, brighter serves-fresh citrus, floral notes.

I do like parfait amour, but I thought the balance was better for my taste with a touch less amour and a bit more vermouth: 2 vodka, 1 vermouth, quarter parfait

I made this with creme de violette first go,not having any parfait d’amour. It was disappointing. Once I used the right ingredients the cocktail was transformed. The ginseng bitters are essential, and complement the parfait very well. Also, do not sub the vodka with gin - you need the ‘clean’ spirit’ for best effect.

Thank you, Simon; another ‘keeper’.
