Whiskey, tequila, gin, mezcal and rum all feature in our 20 best Montenegro cocktails, evidence of how versatile this citrusy bittersweet amaro is. It's also delicious served neat over ice after a meal. However, the M&M recipe below adds a delicious splash of mezcal to this concept.
Adriatique Cocktail
With: Amaro Montenegro, Italian red aperitivo and orange juice.
We say: Bittersweet zesty orange with deep herbal complexity.
Bubo Bubo
With: Rye whiskey, Cynar, Amaro Montenegro and honey syrup.
We say: Bittersweet and whisky-laced but smoothed and mellowed by honeyed richness.
Burning Bright
With: Lime and grapefruit juices, sugar, light rum, Amaro Montenegro and rosso vermouth.
We say: There are hints of Hemmingway Daiquiri to this multi-layered bittersweet aperitivo.
Circus Circus
