Would this work as well with a normal strength white rum or does this have to be overproof?
Light white rum, Triple sec, Hazelnut liqueur, Pineapple juice, Grenadine syrup
Much better than the scores suggest. The addition of hazelnut liquor makes this a much more interesting drink.
Light white rum, Light gold rum 1-3yo, Pineapple juice, Cream of coconut, (+ 3 more)
The kummel really overpowers the other flavours in the drink. Reading the History paragraph, there may be good reason why this cocktail was forgotten.
Have to agree with the comments here, this is great both in terms of taste and looks - the combination of lime and chartreuse works well.
Don't skimp on the raspberries as they are all needed to balance the strong vanilla flavour of this delicious cocktail. Also, bumped up the red wine to 10ml to give it a deeper shade of red.
As the review says, exactly what the name promises. This is nice but no more than that. Should be quite easy to improve or adapt to something more special.
Vodka, Triple sec, Orange juice, Lime juice, (+ 2 more)
A good, summery whisky sour. Increasing the triple sec at the expense of the whisky works well.
A Tequila Sunrise for rum lovers. It's a bit too sweet for me but not easy to see how this could be toned down. Pouring the Grenadine after the first four, shaken ingredients gives you the Sunrise look at the bottom of the glass which balances the lake of the rum sitting on top.
Cucumber (fresh), Gin, Elderflower liqueur, Passionfruit liqueur, (+ 4 more)
Gin, Maraschino liqueur, Gentian liqueur, Pink grapefruit juice
Navy rum (ideally 54.5% alc./vol.), Light white rum, Bourbon whiskey, Lime juice, (+ 2 more)
Gin, Maraschino liqueur, Bénédictine D.O.M., Triple sec, (+ 4 more)
The Irish cream provides a luxurious texture to the nut/coffee combination, the only negative for me was the amaretto tended to dominate. I might reduce it a touch next time.
The proportions are spot on - combines chocolate and hazelnuts without bringing to mind Nutella.
A good use for that dusty bottle of Benedictine - especially welcome on a sunny day.
My first cocktail using Suze and it was not a disappointment. The Suze and elderflower work unexpectedly well with the tequila to deliver a mild yet interestingly bittersweet flavour. Not sure the name does this cocktail justice.
