I didnt have any oranges on hand so I substituted them for more blood orange soda and omitted the simple syrup. Even with Redbreast 12 cask strength for the whiskey, the Barenjager is over powering with a hint of angostura. The whiskey is lost in the flavors.

Far from terrible, but on the given proportions the Suze completely overpowered the more delicate aquavit. I may try it again with different ratios, but as it is I am not a fan.

Like you, I find Suze overpowers a lot of drinks, but dialing it back to 2/3rds the amount called for, it was quite enjoyable.

Pretty good, tastes of black rum upfront, with a cocoa and later DOM aftertaste. Maybe an extra drop or two of hot sauce could be used.

Made with Capel pisco and included the Orange Blossom water and 3 drops of Angostura. Drink tasted like white grape and sweet tarts. Blech! Wrong pisco or skip the Orange Blossom water?

I tried with some Barsol Quebranta, I wasnt a fan of this either, nor Pisco neat.

I dont have an expresso machine to try this, but why would you use hot expresso when you're shaking this with ice? Wouldn't all the water from the melted ice just turn the expresso in to room temperature coffee?

I'd have to disagree with Robert, the Suze is the star of the show here and is overpowering the flavors. If you like Suze, you'll like this, otherwise look for something else.

The grape from the Cognac doesnt really go well with the rest of the flavors, rum of vodka would be more appropriate, but then it wouldnt be an Alexander.
