Our review:

A boozy brandy influenced wet, sweet Martini with a hint of orange. Only discerning drinkers need apply. Those after sweet, less challenging drinks should refrain.

History:

First published in A. S. Crockett's 1935 The Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book. The name may be a reference to the '&' in Martini & Rossi, likely the brand of vermouth originally used.
