Review:

Charles Joly's original recipe called for Nevan liqueur (sadly no longer made) and fresh ginger. This simplified version has a flavour reminiscent of the original combining 'made for each other flavours' in the shape of bourbon, vanilla, maple syrup, ginger and orange.

I love it, let's face it, it's good. But to me, the bourbon is taking over both Giffard liqueurs (Vanille de Madagascar & Ginger of the Indies). I might try with 1 cl for both instead of 0,75 cl...

Wonderful evening sipper. A bit sweet but the bourbon still present. The mixture of the ingredients does result in a cocktail with bourbon and chocolate overtones. Very nice.

Followed Diffords guide which has 7.5 ml maple and I loved it. Felt a equal blend . I did use Bulleit Rye so maybe that compensated well. First use of my Madagascar vanilla…wow …awesome!

I would be careful that the maple syrup doesn’t overwhelm the other flavours. I dialled it back to a scant 5ml.

Agreed! I've cut the maple syrup back to 5ml.
