Review

As the name suggests this is an almond flavoured Old-Fashioned with medium dry madeira adding wine notes while three different whiskies also add to the drink's balance and complexity.

Exceptional! Not heard of rainwater Madeira so I assume as uncommon in Australia as in uk. I subbed Lustau solera cream Sherry which is more medium sweet. Had Glenmorangie Lasanta Sherry finished for the scotch which hopefully pushed it in the intended direction. Very tasty indeed and my imagination easily conjured up the absent garnish! Already planning how to serve to guests!

Loved it. Lacked the Maderia and switched to Twany, too sweet for 1:1 replacement as already mentioned, but still amazing.

Excellent indeed. I had to resort to a sweeter Madeira but I assume that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Tried it with four roses, monkey shoulder, bulleit rye, homemade amaretto, and manzanilla sherry. Very tasty but i recon the madeira would make it truly shine

We expected something much more spirituous. But no, it's beautifully balanced and elegant...bravo. We suspect that the descriptor "rainwater" indicates that vine irrigation is wholly and solely from the heavens. Our bottle of Henriques & Henriques doesn't specify it...so we don't know what they do water-wise.

Godfathers, Old Fashions, Rusty Nails, Manhattans, all boozy whiskey drinks that I like. And I like this one also. Very much!

Would it work with full sweet Madeira ? Or should I not bother ?

I'd give it a go, but perhaps only use 10ml.

It was very good, and then I added toasted almond bitters and then it was outstanding!
