A riff on the classic Negroni from Vietnam, which brilliantly set the richness of sloe gin against bone dry fino sherry while harnessing the herbal bitterness of gentian. Hit the right dilution, and by the third sip, when your palate has adjusted, you'll not be able to stop sipping this bitter aperitif cocktail.

Imho, the Suze is overpowering the rest of the ingredients. Will try again with 15 or even 10ml Suze. Delicious tho!

This was a great aperitivo cocktail, we absolutely loved it. Just that the Italian guest of my party was quite startled with the name since apparently "ino" is a suffix in Italian to express something is small or cute and the previous part of the name equating the N-word in Italian. So yea an unfortunate wording for native Italian speakers apparently.

Wethinks you and your Italian guest were being a wee bit overly sensitive about the root negr-...but we hesitate to use the W-word. Should we be politely asking the good folk of Montenegro to consider a name change for their country? The root negr- simply means black. But we agree with you that it's a lovely aperitivo. Cheers.

In the absence of Suze threw in some Averna, which no doubt changed the flavour profile but which we certainly enjoyed!

I love Suze and I love good Sloe Gin. This is a marriage made in Fino Heaven. Next time I'll give this a brief stir on ice and strain into a chilled coupe.

Is the garnish supposed to be a grapefruit wedge or a grapefruit twist? The photo has a twist, but the text says wedge.

The original recipe specifies wedge but we preferred with a twist. I have amended the garnish specified above accordingly. Thanks for bringing to my attention.
