Man, so glad I found this. Spirit forward regardless of changes, but:
5/6oz bourbon way sweet but not bad
1.5iz bourbon much better
Kept everything else at 1/4oz
Cut the lemon juice in half and used ~3/4 oz simple and wife loved it
Per wife who loves vodka based fruit drinks:
It was too much vodka taste AND too much sweetness WITHOUT blackberry taste.
We used large and delicious blackberries.
Fantastic LW riff. Maybe even better!
Added a dash of Regan’s as per others. Top 10
Just as an FYI in these trying time, Genepy fills in fairly nicely in this one.
I managed to snag a bottle of GC again and couldn’t be happier. Not a big fan of Beefeater, so I made with Aviation instead. It was sublime.
Bloody brilliant
If you like apple brandy and also oike sazeracs, this one is a slam dunk.
Made with Laird’s as well as with a Calvados. Laird’s wins hands down.

Doubling the ingredients is twice as good!
Had high hopes so made everything at 1.5x for a larger amount. Unfortunately, no part stood out and it was mostly just tasted like sweetened booze.
Came together beautifully
Sweet and smooth.
Very sweet. Used a dash of mole bitters which worked well.
Bloody brilliant
Bumped everything by a half and added 1/6oz Absinth as below. Fantastic.
Absolutely brilliant
First drink ever made with fernet branca. Loved all the other ingredients and then the fernet branca comes in beautifully. New favorite.
Tried with bourbon and was too sweet. Tried with rye and a bit better. Will try with less simple next time. However, the combination of flavors itself is excellent.
Sweet as all get out but the ingredients blend super smoothly
