O Gimlet é normalmente preparado mexido. Mas ao menos que seja super bem coado, o drink não fica perfeitamente transparente. Harry Craddock em seu livro de 1930 Savoy Cocktail Book dá dicas de como bater e reinventar este grande coquetel.
