History

The Snowball cocktail was huge in the 1970s and is now enjoying a well-deserved renaissance. This fizz-enhanced version is by yours truly.

Review

Deliciously silky smooth, indulgent, and decadent. Rich, thick, and creamy advocaat freshened with dry sherry, zesty lime cordial, and invigorated with fizz.

It's NYE 2025. As if we weren't feeling nostalgic enough, this cocktail reminded us of our first illicit alcoholic drink...sips of snowballs circa 1980.

I didn't have Lime Cordial or Cacao Powder, so used 60 ml fresh lime juice and 7 ml 1:1 Sugar Syrup (it was a double mix) and Choccocino to dust it off....looks like a keeper!!

First one of the season! Ran out of lime cordial so used lime juice - just as delicious (still sweet enough). Christmas not the same without a shedload of these

I tried this with an Olorosso Sherry and really loved the result. Thanks for the inspiration

I've taken to mixing x8 the base in a litre bottle, topped with a touch of water, refrigerated and taking that with a chilled bottle of prosecco to events where I've not wanted to be chained to the cocktail shaker but want to share a treat with a few people

Many of these were made in our household over the festive season!
On one of these occasions there was a mixup between two bottles and we made this same recipe but with dry vermouth instead of fino. It was different - drier and herbaceous - but surprisingly good as an alternative.

Tried with port instead of sherry and Amarole instead of warninks advoqat - was okey but not great.

Remeber this drink as a teenager at family Christmas parties when advocaat was mixed with cream soda!! Now,it's time for more sophisctication; festivities crammed into a glass, but prefer fresh lime to the cordial.
