3⁄4 fl oz Honey herbal liqueur (e.g. Drambuie)
1⁄2 fl oz Cherry (brandy) liqueur

How to make

Glassware

Serve in an Old-fashioned glass

Prepare

  1. Select and pre-chill an OLD-FASHIONED GLASS.
  2. Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.

Method

  1. STIR all ingredients with ice.
  2. STRAIN into ice-filled glass.

Garnish

  1. EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

If you like this one, try replacing the Drambuie with Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey. Wildly different flavour, but I can honestly don't say which one I prefer.

One really has to love peaty Scotch (in my case, Laphroaig) and Drambuie to be satisfied by this - and I definitely did enjoy it. But I can barely taste the Sangue Morlacco, however, if at all. So I upped it equal measure with the Drambuie, and yes it was better. Gets a little lost in the aftertaste, but a cherry pit flavor seems to linger on the palate. Not a perfect recipe, by any stretch. Next time, I might try to cut some of the Islay with a fruity Speyside single malt. Funny, with the honey and cherry, not so fruity-sweet a drink.

Just made this with Loch Lomond peated grain whisky. Got cherry bubblegum. I quite enjoyed it.

Not being a big fan of Scotch which is too smoky, used single malt from Speyside and the midlands. There was just enough smoky taste to be interesting, but not overwhelm the cocktail. If you like the smoky, I would use the Islay.

Nope, not for me! Lacks moreish quality and the peat is too forward which puts the whole drink out of kilter. Some Fee Bros orange bitters helped a tad bit but not enough.
