Created by David A. Embury, who in his 1948 Fine Art of Mixing Drinks writes of this drink: "As a grand finale to cocktails based on the Rum Sour, I give you one of my favorites which I have named after my favorite community." Larchmont is a village in Westchester County, New York where he lived for many years.
LARCHMONT
David Embury, 1948
½ part Sugar syrup
2 parts Lime juice
2 parts Grand Marnier
6 parts White Cuban rum
Shake vigorously with crushed or cracked ice and strain into chilled and frosted cocktail glass. A twist of orange peel may be dropped into each drink for decoration if desired.
I share Embury's appreciation of this fine, delicate Orange Daiquiri. However, I've tweaked his formulation as we found the original somewhat rich and over citrusy.
3rd November 2026 is David Embury's birthday
