Prepare

Select and pre-chill a COLLINS GLASS.

Prepare garnish of lime zest twist or lime slice wheel.

Method

POUR lemonade and lime juice into ice-filled glass.

Add the advocaat (which will mostly sink though the other ingredients).

Briefly STIR to integrate while retaining the lemonade's carbonation.

Note to Americans, British lemonade is quite different to what we think of as lemonade. 7-up or Sprite will be the easiest substitutions here.

I usually add a dash of a Palo Cortado or Amontillado Sherry to the top of the drink before serving. Turns it into a way more soho drink than it should be. Love it.

I'm wondering if this would be better drunk with a straw because it was a bit like one drink (lemonade) on top of another (Advocaat)

You could drink with a straw but it should be served with contents integrated so enjoyable without a straw. But even better, make a Champagne Snowball instead.

I don't know a version of this recipe with brandy or another cocktail called Snowball with brandy.

Or vodka, one shot, so as not to alter the taste too much. Advocaat is made with Brandy i believe so why not add more?

Never had Advocaat before. Bought a bottle for a summer party so if it was horrible there would be plenty of others around to finish it. Made a snowball first. Wow! Tasted just like the ice cream soda's I used to love as a kid. Brilliant for a hot summer day. [The bottle was gone within half an hour and I bought another the very next day.]

Very nice and a lot better than the premixed versions.
Try adding 25 ml of Brandy/Cognac to beef it up a bit.

Rose Lemonade? Never! Someone has made an error surely? The traditional recipe calls for lemonade. Fresh lime cuts through the sweetness, but those who love sweet drinks can use a good dash or Roses Lime Cordial

I suspect you were seeing Fentiman's Rose Lemonade in this recipe due to this product being miss-linked in our database. Even then it would only show if you have added this particular brand of lemonade to Your Ingredients. To fix this I have added Rose Lemonade as an ingredient in its own right so now you should only see traditional lemonades in this recipe. Many thanks for bringing this error to my attention.
