Review:

A Last Word with light rum in place of gin, hence initially named Light Word, but A Quiet Word had more of a ring to it.

I really liked this, but the lime juice with the maraschino was SO sour, almost overwhelmingly so. I really enjoyed the mix of flavours until my tongue silently cried out in surprise. For anyone looking to reduce the sour taste, reduce a bit of the maraschino and a bit more of the lime juice. If you like your drinks ridiculously sour, keep as is.

While Pusser's rum likely doesn't qualify as 'light gold', I still like the results.
Others have lamented the weakness of the Chartreuse, but I feel it works in a "supporting role" very well.

Very good LastWord version. I tried Boomsma Closterlikeur for the first time. The taste is similar to Chartreuse but it has much less power. Nevertheless it worked perfect in this cocktail.

Tried with Havana club 3 years and a french equivalent of Chartreuse from the distillery Cherry Rocher. Very good, but I think I prefer the version with pisco (Yes dear cocktail) or even gin (Last word cocktail). Maybe I should try it with a stronger rhum.

Thoroughly satisfying, thank you Simon.

Tasty. I used SelvaRey White, Green Chartreuse, & Luxardo Maraschino. The Maraschino is definitely dominant, but the Chartreuse blends well with it to add subtle complexity. The rum is subtle, as well, providing a solid base, with nice citrus tartness from the lime. Excellent variation on the Last Word if you don't like gin, aren't in the mood for it, or just don't have any.

It seems I am in the minority on this one, but to me the Maraschino liqueur overwhelmed everything else. Tried cutting the Maraschino to 1/3, but still not really to my liking.

I agree. The Maraschino is by far the most dominant flavour. I like it, but the Chartreuse seems to get a bit lost which is a pity considering how hard it can be to find a bottle these days.

I know this is probably heresy, but I prefer this to Last Word. Also as someone said below - even better on the rocks!

Supreme! Since, I am blessed with steady supply of Chartreuse, this cocktail is among my top 3 summer/ warm weather cocktails. Lime juice could be increased a notch: 25 ml. And, of course as any cocktail, kindly try it on the rocks - remarkable, smooth and airy.

in 2023 it would be rally helpful that every time a drink that uses Chartreuse is highlighted an alternate be offered using a Chartreuse substitute.

We love Faccia Brutto Centerbe as a Chartreuse Vert substitute. However, I do not know how widely it is in distribution.
