A characterful bittersweet aperitivo or digestive. A wisp of mezcal sits brilliantly with the London dry gin base.

Nice, clear and umber-tinged. A lot of flavors packed in a pretty boozy cocktail. Gin botanical backbone and heat (as you'd expect), delicious flavors of Meletti, a bit of smoke from my mezcal, and a background of Cynar bitterness. Great balance of flavors, but quite boozy, so you likely won't be able to drink many of these in a session.

This was really good with Hayman's London Dry Gin, Del Maguey Vida Clasico Mezcal, Meletti amaro, & Cynar. A very interesting combination of ingredients that make a very interesting, well-balanced drink!

This good. I don't think very smokey.

I happened to have exactly these ingredients so I put one together. It’s a perfect balance of smoke and bitter, and if I were a smoker it would be just dandy with a cigar. Next time I’ll try St George Terroir gin (California), which has hints of rosemary and other herbs.

Beautifully balanced. We used Nardini instead of Meletti...no idea if this substitute is faithful to the original. Hopefully all remains domestic bliss following the Euro final. The best team won! Who could ask for more?

Exactly how I felt after the final whistle. And we were all spared extra time. I have just used Averna, but will try the minty Nardini next time. Also try mixing the Nardini Amaro 50-50 with a peaty malt whisky. Over large chunks of ice with a thick slice of orange. It's called a 'Barga Kilt' ....super-smoky (and no Mezcal in sight)

I really like the smokiness from the mezcal and will try it with different ones (for science!). As a negroni fan, this drink is sure to become a new favourite twist on the classic.

Very enjoyable aperitif. Double if you like smoky (not my favourite). Could see this also as an digestive. Flavours all blend together well, but their is a distinct smoky taste.
May try again using a blended Scottish Whisky which is not as smoky.

So we had again as an after dinner cocktail, but used Johnnie Walker Black instead of the Mezcal. Liked the second version with the Scotch Whisky better as it is not so smoky and the ingredients all blend with nothing standing out.
