Prepare

Select and pre-chill a COUPE GLASS.

Prepare garnish of orange (or lemon) zest twist.

Method

STIR all ingredients with ice.

FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish

EXPRESS orange (or lemon) zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

Made this again but used half the amount of dry vermouth to make the cocktail a bit drier. Used Empress 1908 Indigo Gin. Gave the final cocktail a great colour.

Orange and aniseed to the fore. I wish I’d used orange zest rather than lemon to bring the orange out more. I prepared this exactly as the recipe and it is a lovely gentle sipping martini.

I made this with Nordes Gin, Noisy Prat and Cointreau finished with both a lemon and orange twist and wow, super cocktail. The salty, herbal nature of the Nordes with the sweet orange of the Cointreau really works well. Will continue to experiment with this combo.

A great cocktail. Very simila to Turf Club 1900, with almost the Sam ingredients, but so much better. Proportions are everything.

Made again, but substituted Grand Marnier for the Cointreau. Had a wonderful slight hint to cognac in the background along with the hints from the absinthe. Would definitely do again.

The Botanist, Carpano Dry, La Clandestine absinthe, Cointreau. Delicious! A nice break from the usual Martini.

On a whim swapped the triple sec for italicus at double quantity, one dash orange bitters and lemon twist. Not bad.

And then mad properly to spec. Wonderfully subtle herbal and citrus flavours. A new favourite I suspect! Needs a light touch with absinthe.

I made it with Uncle Val's Botanical, Dolin, Cointreau, Grande Absente. Quite interesting and very good, though next time I will use a different gin--Val's tends to overpower.

Might dial the Cointreau back, also.
