Review:

This herbal sweet 'n' sour Last Word does indeed have The Last Laugh thanks to a splash of merriment-inducing sparkling wine.

Adapted from a recipe created by Abigail Gullo at Compère Lapin restaurant in New Orleans, USA. A riff on the classic Last Word, apparently so named due to the bubbles from the sparkling wine "tickling your nose."

There's absolutely nothing not to like about this. I love the last word (make it with WildBark gin if you can find it), but this is even better. Much to my surprise.

Yummy. Works very well with Sparkling rosè as well.
Suggestion: Try it without the bubbly as well.

Herbal and refreshing. Did find it a little sweet so we doubled the amount of Cava which brought down the sweetness for us. Next time may increase the lime juice to a full oz. Very enjoyable.

I found I had to double the cava too, but I’m not a big fan of The Last Word so take that with a grain of salt.

Who knew? Last Word plus bubbly. Excellent! Now I have to try Spanish Cava. (I made mine with brut rosé, a bit flat so I added extra.) Next stop; which sparkling wine to add to which variation of the last word. Five star fun!

This was perfect made with Cava and Génépy! Now to find the elusive Green Chartreuse.

Most enjoyable! Slight variation on ingredients based on availability in my bar; Patient Wolf dry gin, Maschio Prosecco, 1/3 shot lime juice. Chartreuse, Maraschino is a really intriguing combo. The sparkling, in this case Prosecco, was a great finish for texture - reminiscent of a more richly flavoured French 75. Very cool!

Haven't tried it yet, but if you like the Last Word then this should extend the time you can appreciate it and mellow the lovely intensity of the Chartreuse.
